You could say Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Dylan Sali has the pedigree of a champion swimmer.
His mom qualified for Hungary’s Olympic swimming team, though the boycott of the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles left her unable to compete. And Sali’s dad was a high school water polo player in Romania.
“She taught me all my stroke techniques,” Sali, a senior, said of his athletic mother. “I started swimming competitively when I was 6 years old for the Summit Y. When I turned 9, we moved to Bridgewater, and that’s when I joined the Somerset Valley Y – I’ve been swimming with them ever since.”
